Please tell us a little bit about your most recent song or what you're working on right now. My most concentrated effort is going into stuffing Youtube with unreleased material and the organization of my first project. My most recent song was is about black oppression and the return of Jesus. What was your motivation for it? My motivation for the song was the fucked up state of affairs for my both myself and those close to me. Are you currently working on any side projects or collaborations? Oh yes, I've been on a collaboration spree this year. Just finished one today with the homie from the city, DeLeon216 on a newer joint about to appear on his album. Soundcloud has a long list of collaborative joints I've put together with people from Cleveland and all throughout the country. On Youtube there is a joint called "BE.MORE.CREATIVE." that a dope producer named SuedeJuryMusic that really has been receiving warm responses. I'm also up to work with anyone that seeks to push the culture forward contrary to the commercialization direction that dictates it now. If you real, you can certainly collab with me. (216) 450-9417 What motivated you to do what you do in general? What motivated me to do what I'm doing is the emotional, psychological, and physical trauma that being African American, impoverished, and a christian/rapping/conspiracy theorist/revolutionary/freedom leader purchased me What draws you to your genre? What drew to me to the genre of alternative rap was growing up in an urban family with a relatively young mother who drew a lot of her inspiration and motivation from it, along with many other forms of music. I feel that hip hop/rap whatever you prefer to call it most accurately conveyed the deepest inward expressions of my daily experience as a person and spiritual being. Do you have any unique rituals regarding your creative process? Smoke weed. Pray Occasionally have sex. lol (my rituals before making music) Sometimes i listen to music too .. Inspiring people like Pac, Lauryn, my local niggas with talent, or my own hotter joints that push me to be great. Do you find it difficult to maintain a career as an artist? Hell yes. I find it difficult to even fucking maintain STAYING ALIVE being black in this fucking world of racist corporate corruption and governmental satanic destructive ass forces who have no compassion. Being an artist is a privilege honestly. Being able to retaliate against the dehumanizing intrusion and existence insulting arrogance of this society is a pleasure considering the fact that many of my friends and family are strictly victims of it. I consider it a blessing from God! Tell us about your day job(s) or anything you'd like to share that has nothing to do with your music. I have no day job. I'm starving and almost as broke as our brothers and sisters in the countries America extorts for resources and power. I need help desperately financially so if any of you is burdened by an excess of goods/money/resources/love please, don't hesitate to contact me ASAP. (216)450-9417 What would you like to tell your listeners? I'm depressed. I'm newly married as well. Pray for me people. I would like to tell my listeners to go and listen to my Youtube for a dope ass experience musically and like everything. Be on the lookout for the Mixtape dropping most like January of next year God willing Tell us a little bit about your personal philosophy? I believe in Jesus. The traditional baptist view. I believe the world is under the influence of nefarious occult laced secret societies of people who worship the devil as well. I make music to expound and awaken people to the injustice and insanity that is normalized in our society and torturous to my life and spirit. much love! to everybody stay woke. Here is a part of our interview with him. To check out the author interview, click HERE! How did you come up with the idea for your podcast? It was something that someone else brought to my attention. After a while just like with the books I had been reading I felt I can do it as well, but in my own way; the way I feel it should be done. Tell us a little bit about your inspiration and philosophy regarding the podcast. For the podcast the idea came about because I am the type of person that likes to get to know a person, and not just a character that’s behind a computer. I want to know the real person and not the person who they’re portraying to be. Check out '#unSCRIPTED' HERE "Once again please lend us an hour of time and your supportive attemtion as we; Carl and Dough UNscripts J.C.. No not that JC, but J.C. Presley; the Author. We'll dig into his catalogue of Self published novels such as Memoirs of a fatherless child, a title I myself can relate to. Anyway please tune in because this will be another episode not to be missed because it will most definitley be unfiltered, real, and of course #UNscripted." You can find his music HERE Carl Hicks hails from D.C. Though he always had a love for writing, he found the time and discipline to do so in a jail cell when he was sentenced to 5 years in prison for armed robbery. After being assaulted and comatose for two months, he was medically paroled with all of his belongings being shipped home. His debut novel, “I do it for the Love of it” was among those things. He briefly contemplated self-publishing the title but found a home with the PenBullies family. With his lyrical ability combined, he hopes to entice his readers with his way of words.
