Please tell us a little bit about your most recent work. My most recent book is titled "Silver Reborn", and it is the fourth book in my poetry series. "Silver Reborn", like all of my poetry books, entails topics of life, love, and reflection. "Silver Reborn" is reflective of a mind unafraid to ponder past mistakes, and a heart willing to heal through life's failures and let-downs. What draws you to poetry? What draws me to poetry is the intricacy of it. In writing, there is this freedom to unleash deep emotion, and I like that. Are you currently working on any side projects such as short stories, essays, etc.? I am currently working on the publication of my fifth poetry book, and I am also anticipating the publication of my first children's book by the end of 2018. Which topics interest you the most and why? The topics that interest me the most are life, love, and reflection. I am a big fan of love, and have been for as long as I can remember. I am in love with love...the ups, downs, and the places in between. Love gives one a sense of meaning and adventure...and I'm drawn to that. Also, I have always been intrigued by life and different cycles and patterns that we go through. I also have never shied away from looking into self and digging beneath the surface of my being to capture my essence. I feel that when we all do that, we reach the heart of who we really are. Do you have any unique writing rituals? I write whenever I am inspired...but that is usually when I am alone. One poet more people should know: Who is it? A poet that more people should know is Ernestine Johnson. I think her work is very powerful...and it motivates me. Do you find it difficult to get your work out there? The term "struggling artist" is no myth. However, through networking and research, I find it easier to gain new and creative ways to market myself. Tell us about your day job or your daily activities. My day job is a student. I am a Psychology major at UMBC...and I love it. The president, Freeman A. Hrabowski has served as President for over 20 years, and he is amazing. He is also an author...and I love that! When it comes to your work, where do you find your inspiration? I mostly get inspired from art, and in the midst of heartache. What would you like to tell your readers. To my readers, always be true to yourself. Never let go of your dreams...push through the struggle, obstacles, and pain. Work on it, wait on it, and it will come. And above all, always love! Love is the fruit that sustains us. Love is the air of life. Love is the truth of existence... ![]() Here is what Brittney wants us to know about her: Hi, my name is Brittney Samone Silver.
