by Clifford K. Watkins, Jr. Lost to the rudiments of being Trying to envision your sketchy remembrances I’m somehow assuaged by your tone You compel me from a fracture in life’s monotony For your rhythmic words are the vanquishers of my darkness Forging a mindset of quick-fix luminosity Alive as I bask in this furtive sun And somewhere you shudder at the thought of my affection As I envelope myself with the warmth of faceless strangers Yet always superimposing your subtle face So there will always be misplaced scraps in my patchwork existence No matter how irretrievably foolish Clifford K. Watkins, Jr., has dabbled with various mediums in the creative realm. He has been writing poems, stories, and dirty limerick since elementary school. Through the years, he has performed as a comedian, rapper, and spoken-word artist. He hosted a call-in radio show for EPiphany Radio (2014-16) that featured spoken-word artists from all over the world. He currently resides in a small one-horse town in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia, where he spends his free time writing, walking trails, and painting rocks.
